WHAT IS A M&O LEVY VOTE
EP&O school levies are revenue sources which Washington State school districts are allowed to use supplement and enrich the
basic education program. This was formerly known as the Maintance and Operations Levy.
IS THE LEVY A NEW TAX? NO!
It replaces an existing school levy that the citizens passed in 2016, which will expire in 2018. The passage of this levy will take the
place of the old levy and will be collected in 2019 and 2020.
WHY IS A LEVY NEEDED?
Levies and levy equalization funds provide the district approximately 12% of the budget, paying for many programs required by law
but not fully funded by any other source. The levy also pays for specific programs the community desires
WHY A TWO YEAR LEVY
The two year proposal provides the district an opportunity for more consistent planning through sustained funding. A two-year
levyalso saves taxpayers the election cost of running a levy each year.
WHAT WILL THE LEVY COST ME?
The proposed levy is $465,000 for 2019 and $511 for 2020. This will require an estimated collection rate of $1.50 per $1000 assess
